For many years, John Cowan was a human resource professional within large corporations such as Honeywell and Control Data. Now, he is a full-time consultant who works with corporate, health care, and governmental organizations throughout North America. In addition, John is an Episcopal priest on active duty.
In 1977, the American Management Association published his influential book, The Self-Reliant Manager. During the 1990s, he's been best known for two small books of essays, Small Decencies: Reflections and Meditations on Being Human at Work and The Common Table: Reflections and Meditations on Community and Spirituality in the Workplace. Originally, these were published by HarperBusiness, but, after a good run of several years in national distribution, they are now distributed directly by the author. We reviewed both books in 1996.Here are some essays from John Cowan.
