South Korea has been having serious problems with its economy during the past 20 months or so, but it's still come from the devastation of the Korean War to become one of the world's leading industrial economies in only about 45 years or so. Moreover, South Korea and the United States have had a close relationship for many years, in part because of their being allies during the Korean War, but also because many Korean-born persons are American citizens, given the large number of Korean children adopted by American families over many years. However, he is best-known for helping Japanese business leaders produce their country's post-war "economic miracle," particularly in the electronics and automotive industries. The Organization of American States was established in 1948, but its history goes back much further, and, in fact, fulfills Simon Bolivar original vision in the early 19th century. The OAS is now the world's oldest regional association and includes all of the independent states in the Western Hemisphere.
