This is one site that you won’t want to ignore during your job search! It’s been around since the very beginning of job boards and has expanded in so many creative and interesting ways that you’ll spend hour after hour on it — always intrigued and stimulated to pursue job searching in ways you may not have thought before!

It’s also a winner, according to all the experts in Internet job searching. From Fortune magazine to the Wall Street Journal to the Riley Guide to CareerXRoads, Vault.com is noted for its breadth and depth in helping job hunters be thoroughly prepared as they look for new opportunities and careers. Here’s a major breakdown of what you’ll find on Vault.com:

What it's Like to Work At...

Vault is known for offering insider reports talking about the work environment and other corporate culture info, most of which are taken from interviews with actual current and past employees. You'll also find some profiles of employers from the IT perspective each week. On their web site, search the phrase What it's Like to Work At... to find interviews with employers and employees at specific organizations.

The Electronic Water Cooler

Browse through more than 548,000+ messages posted, scour the 4,363+ company boards or visit the 29 industry boards at Vault.com. At the Electronic Water cooler, griping and gossip can run amuck. The community section features boards for both industries (11,070 post in Law alone) and companies (14,455 posts for Morgan Stanley).

Currently, many boards tend to complain about lay-offs and cutbacks, but in some cases reassurance can be found from those in the know. With recent college graduates joining the workforce, the boards seem to be swamped with questions from new hires. Be sure to take a look but also take them with a grain of salt. Many folks posting may be current or former dissatisfied employees.

Smart HR managers canvass Vault’s "electronic water cooler" to find out if misinformation or poor supervisors are undermining morale within their companies. They will be impressed if you’ve checked out this section of Vault to let them tell you how they are handling any rotten apples in their midst’s. So feel free to bring up some of these issues in your interview.
