June brings a profusion of flowers, as well as many new opportunities for job seekers in all kinds of fields as the American economy continues to show strength. In this article, I have a list of websites that you may or may not be aware of. Spending time with these 100+ sites will better inform you about new job opportunities as well as give you savvy career advice from many recognized experts in all kinds of fields. Let's get started!

Search engine heaven!

It's hard to believe that anyone would bother to take on Google with its immense popularity. But, as we all know, the king on the top of any technological heap usually doesn't have a long reign.

So if your search that uses Google to find niche job searching websites doesn't yield any fruit or your efforts to thoroughly research a small and obscure contact name or potential employer don't seem to be going anywhere, definitely, check out The Top 100 Alternative Search Engines for a comprehensive list.

According to the writers of this exhaustive list of new search engines with unusual names, this list is constantly being revised and reviewed, so return to it monthly to find out how the beta versions are doing in becoming active and debugged search engine sites. At the end of 2007, the authors promise to review their favorites, which should yield some promising contenders to keep Google on its toes!

Effective niche websites for job searching

TheLadders is a fascinating and sophisticated site for anyone looking for a highly skilled and high-paying job in the following fields: finance, general management, human resources, law, medical, management consulting, marketing, operations, real estate, sales, science and technology. There is also information about general employment trends available plus a special site for recruiters of those looking for $100k+ positions around the country.

LatPro is a 10-year old website that is growing exponentially, with thousands of bona fide job openings in many fields in all states for those who are Hispanic and/or bilingual in Spanish. It is a great source of information about immigration, extensive lists of Hispanic organizations and professional groups. It also offers solid advice plus valuable tips for career seekers and young Hispanics to learn about scholarship information.

LocalCareers.com is a network of local, regional, and national job searching websites. Depending on where you live and how well it is marketed, you can find many or just a few job openings. The career articles are helpful. I particularly found their "hit the panic button if you boss comes near" rather amusing. Up popped a list of time management tips that would bring praise from any unwary boss!

MilitaryHire.com provides a depth of experience and expertise to anyone transitioning from the military into the civilian sector. Hundreds of companies use this site to tap into the technical and leadership talent of the US military. I particularly found the advice to about-to-be-retired military very useful in helping guide someone who thinks in military terms and acronyms to rejoin the civilian sector that is ignorant of the skills and alphabet soup of military jargon.

Another related site is Army PAYS to check out. It stands for Army Partnership for Youth Success. It is an excellent way for US businesses to tap into the Army's reservoir of high-skilled young veterans.

Net-Temps fills a particular niche by listing all the job openings for those wanting temporary, part-time and/or full-time jobs and are comfortable working through staffing agencies. Lots of fascinating openings in many different fields. Staffing agencies are increasingly playing the role of HR departments for major companies throughout the US. Anyone who sniffs at them is missing out on many new and exciting opportunities!

USAJOBS is the official federal government job searching website that is operated by the Office of Personnel Management. There are hundreds of quality technical, management, and military opportunities around the country to check out.

Vault.com is a walking encyclopedia of information for job seekers. A veritable MUST for anyone who wants to be successful in researching a potential new company and its competitors, knowing the latest do's and don'ts of interviewing and salary negotiations, and in finding what current employers think about the morale and corporate culture from the inside.

So make a bouquet with all of these "flowers" of job searching websites. You'll be glad that you've made this investment of time in your future career!
