The mission of the International Women's Media Foundation is "to strengthen the role of women in the news media around the world, based on the belief that no press is truly free unless women share an equal voice." Each year, this organization honors female journalists "who have shown extraordinary strength of character and integrity while reporting the news under dangerous or difficult circumstances." WINGS: Women's International News Gathering Service is an all-woman independent radio production company that produces and distributes news and current affairs programs by and about women around the world.
The mission of the Women's Radio Fund is to build a support network for women radio producers and broadcasters worldwide.
The purpose of Women, Ink. is to "market and distribute resources on women and development with a focus on the perspectives of women from the developing nations or in the language of the United Nations, the global south." Women, ink is a project of the International Women's Tribune Centre.
JAWS: Journalism and Women Symposium's mission is to support the personal growth and professional empowerment of women in newsrooms and works toward a more accurate portrayal of the whole society."
According to their web site, Women's Feature Service is "the only international women's news/features syndicate," which "features and opinions on development from a gender perspective. WFS has a global outlook, with writers from 40 countries and media clients all over the world." Also, the Women's Feature Service claims to be among the first to report on stories such as the following:
--The growing power of the Taliban in Afghanistan
--The effects of the break-up of the Soviet Union on women
--AIDS and its impact on women and sexuality.--WFS was the first to report how Parlodel, the breastmilk suppressant, had generic side effects.
--In the same year, (1995) WFS wrote about Intissar Al-Wazir, the first woman in Palestinian government.
